ICON•S Live
ICON•S Live Event - Book Launch & Discussion. Joel Colón-Ríos' "Constituent Power and the Law" (OUP, 2020)
In his new book, Colón-Ríos offers an in-depth examination of the relationship between constituent power and the law. Based on how the concept has been used across constitutional history by theorists, politicians, and judges, Colón-Ríos argues that constituent power should be understood as ultimately based on a legal mandate to produce a particular type of juridical content. In practice, this makes it possible to understand constitution-making bodies as legally subject to substantive limits.

Join us in a live discussion of “Constituent Power and the Law” with the author, Sanford Levinson (The University of Texas at Austin, School of Law), Sabrina Ragone (University of Bologna), Yaniv Roznai (Harry Radzyner Law School, IDC Herzliya), Zoran Oklopcic (Carleton University), Mariana Velasco-Rivera (University of Göttingen) and Sergio Verdugo (Universidad del Desarrollo).
The session will be moderated by Liz Hicks (Melbourne Law School/Humboldt University).
